South Harting
has two pubs which serve evening meals, The Ship and the White Hart,
an excellent village shop, post office and two churches. Petersfield
- 3 miles away - offers more selection with the usual variety to be
found in towns.
Torberry
Cottage is in great location for many places to visit
Uppark at
South Harting and Petworth House are two National Trust properties.
Chichester, with a cathedral, and newly opened Pallant House Gallery,
Midhurst, with the Cowdray Estate for Polo, and restored walled gardens.
Petworth, with it's many antique shops and the market town of Petersfield,
all with various attractions nearby.
The West
Dean Estate, with the well restored walled garden, often featured on
TV gardening programmes, and nearby Weald and Downland Museum, are well
worth a visit.
The Goodwood
Estate is reknowned for Horse Racing, but has more to offer with golfing,
the Cass Foundation Sculpture Park, and the world famous motor events
of the Festival of Speed and the Revival meeting.
The Coast
is not far away. Portsmouth, with the Historic Dockyard home of the
Mary Rose and The Victory ships, as well as the ferries to the Isle
of Wight and continent, is approximately 30 mins drive.Trains to Waterloo
run frequently from Petersfield.
